The Amanda Young Foundation was set up by Barry and Lorraine Young 19 years ago as a not-for-profit organisation to raise awareness about meningococcal disease.
The Youngs tragically lost their only child Amanda to meningococcal at the age of 18 and the Foundation was set up with aim of reducing deaths in WA from meningococcal disease and supporting survivors of the disease.
Amanda’s Garden Fete is the key fundraiser for the calendar and takes place at the beautiful private gardens of the Youngs, on the corner of Margaret and Matison Streets in Southern River.
It’s happening on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October from 10am – 4.30pm each day with a $5 entry fee. As well as the gorgeous gardens to enjoy, there will be a plant sale, art display, sausage sizzle and Devonshire teas and music. It’s a fun family day out in a rural setting and all proceeds go towards Meningococcal Awareness.
